Right this is a very big thing with me because I love Geology, I did it at A-Level and GCSE (I wanted to do it at Uni but didn't get the grades, but that's life).
Well to be honest we're already in a new ice age. The temperature of the Earth (everywhere) has been cooling down since a couple odd million years ago. We're in the very, very, very starting phases of a new ice age.
People seem to be assuming that we, humans CAUSE global warming when in actual fact we're just SPEEDING IT UP.
It's already been happening long, long, long before the invention of fuel etc, so what I believe we must do as a species is not be concerned on IF we're causing global warming but WHEN is it properly going to be in effect.
We should start looking at ways to improve our chances of survival other than worrying if we're the cause of it or not when the planet's already in one :P
No matter how hard we try, global warming has been continuing since the creation of the Earth. There is absolutely no way in hell we can stop it, we just have to prepare ourselves for the storms yet to come.
As I said previously however, we are definately speeding it up due to fossil fuels etc which I think is wrong. Although I admit there's no way of stopping it, as global warming is the planet's way of recycling. I think we can do much, much more to slow the process down, but not stop it.
Well tiz what I think and believe :D
